Girls Guide collage

I love to learn and study. I love educating myself whether through traditional school or reading. I love stretching my gray matter. It is probably this reason that I stuck it out, going to school for twelve years to get my Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice.

Unfortunately since I graduated college, I haven’t had the resources to return. But I’ve still been yearning to learn and engage my mind.

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this year I have enrolled in three online courses, all of which are related to my business, Canyonlandz Designs. Two of the three courses even have a process for certification.

I’m excited to share with you the three courses I am currently enrolled in:

Girls Guide to Graphic Design: (I am not an affiliate, yet!) This is a course designed, developed and offered by the amazingly talented Amanda Aitken. The course is a series of video tutorials, many of which are student requested, where Amanda walks us step-by-step through the process of designing beautiful graphics using Photoshop.
This course has been incredible. I am learning how to use Photoshop without suffering through the boring instruction given by any other instructor. From day one we are shown how do design a graphic and then encouraged to follow the steps but using images that appeal to us as individuals.
This course has a certification process.

Girls Guide to Web Design: (I am not an affiliate, yet!) This course is a pre-course to the Girls Guide to Graphic Design, again developed by the incredible Amanda Aitken on how to design and build your own WordPress website using the Thesis theme. This course is a series of video tutorials in which Amanda teaches chapter-by-chapter how to design your own website based off of your own mood board. All of the graphics created for your website are generated using free imaging programs.
This course had a certification process.

Brandgasm: (I am not an affiliate.) This is a design and copywriting course offered by Ash Ambirge of The Middle Finger Project and Jamie Varon and Nicole Antoinette of Shatterbox. The course is a week-by-week of how to design and copywrite your website and information for your ideal client.

If you love learning and educating yourself share with me how you do it in the comments below. I’d love to hear some of the non-traditional routes you may have pursued.

    • Fabulous Cindy! It is wonderful to see that you are learning – and keeping the costs low/cheap.
I hope you keep doing well with that. It is always fun to learn something regardless of what stage we are in.

  1. I love learning too and would like to study history again at some point. I do read history books and watch TV documentaries.

From a business point of view, I learn a lot from my peers through boardroom groups where we get together and discuss business practices and issues. I find I can always learn something.

    • Thanks for sharing Robert, that is wonderful!
I’m looking for a mastermind group to help me with my business – kind of similar to your business group, I guess.

  2. That is wonderful Amar! I did a class through coursera canine reproduction. It was a great learning experience.
