For the last two weeks we’ve discussed my first two fauxdori’s and their themes. Today we are chatting about my large Buteo Bunker.
Just like with the FoxyDori I researched the Buteo Bunker and decided upon the largest size offered, one that would fit a full half sheet of U.S. letter paper or 8.5×5.5. I decided on this size so that if the need arose I could make my own inserts for it without worrying about cutting them down.
I finally placed my order with Buteo Bunker and went with the 8-9 oz. leather in brown (it also comes in the colors chestnut and black) with four inner elastics and ample overhang. One of my pet peeves with fauxdori’s is if there is any overhang from the inserts or accessories sticking out past the edge of the notebook.
When it arrived, setting it up was simple! I had decided to use it as my novel writing notebook (yes, I’m working on writing a fictional novel!). Because of it’s intended use I kept the inserts simple, opting for a three pack of lined Moleskine inserts. I figured I wasn’t going to fuss about my Buteo Bunker having a theme (which meant no shopping for scrapbook paper to decorate my inserts).
But then, while I was organizing some of my stationery stash, I came across a package I had received a while back from Happie Scrappie. Inside the package was a colorful bookmark with the image of a typewriter!
This bookmark was the catalyst for the theme in my Buteo Bunker. I searched out a few Etsy sellers and purchased a dashboard and a folder with a typewriter print. In addition, I also purchased two typewriter paper clips from Cindy’s Perfect Paper Crafting.
Now my Buteo Bunker is set up perfectly for my novel writing. Plus, it looks really cute, always an extra bonus when decorating anything!
