I truly believe forming good habits is the key to living a successful, authentic life. Developing good habits requires…well habits. It requires constant evaluation and restructuring of your goals and priorities.

I am in the process of following Chalene Johnson’s 30-Day Challenge, again. If you follow my blog on a regular basis you will know that I take part in this challenge regularly. Chalene’s 30-Day Challenge is amazing, I learn something new every time I participate in it. Her challenge helps me to develop and master better habits. The 30-Day Challenge, offered by Chalene Johnson is something I highly recommend to anyone wanting to form positive habits!

Today, I am going to discuss the specific habits I want to change. I am going to focus on modifying one habit each month for the next five months. I figure tackling one habit at a time is more productive than trying to attack them all at once.

So here is my monthly breakdown:

  • August: Cleaning – create, implement and maintain a simple, less stressful and easy to maintain cleaning schedule
  • September: Finances & Budgeting – create a budget, set short-term and long-term financial goals and document every penny spent
  • October: Blogging – create a minimum of 10 quality posts and follow a 30-Day blogging challenge
  • November: Health & Fitness – Increase my physical fitness, decrease my bad eating habits (ex. eliminate soda, cut back on fast food) and work up to a 3 mile jog/walk at 05:00 every morning
  • December: Building my business – taking classes and attending training and seminars related to my business

This does not mean I will not put some amount of effort into each of these areas throughout the rest of the year – I do not want my home to become so unbearably messy it would be too embarrassing to have visitors over. The main goal is to focus on one particular habit for 30 days, to firmly solidify it.

The popular theory is it takes 21 days to break a bad habit. I figure giving myself 30 days to challenge my habit is far more effective. The objective is to allocate any spare time to participating in activities, researching, and reading books or articles on that particular topic.
